The Water Assembly is a diverse, all-volunteer, non-profit grassroots organization devoted to open, inclusive, and participatory process.  This website contains information about upcoming events and recent activities, as well as an extensive archive.  Use the links in the left margin to explore!

Our region includes three large watersheds -- the Rio Puerco, Río Jemez and Middle Río Grande.    The Water Assembly developed a Middle Rio Grande Regional Water Plan (RWP) for Sandoval, Bernalillo, and Valencia counties, with broad public and governmental participation and a sound scientific foundation.  The synopsis provides a summary of the RWP.  The Rio Puerco and Rio Jemez Subregional Plan is included in Chapter 12 of the RWP.

The water plan indicates that our annual water consumption averages  15% to 20% more than the renewable supply.  Details of the deficit are shown in the Water Budget (WA, 1999).

In 2004, the MRG water plan was accepted by the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission and 19 local governments in the region.

Consider helping with our current projects to ensure that the water plan is implemented fully and effectively. Contact us to find out how.
